A Trip to the ER

Unfortunately, this trip to the emergency room was to Children’s Hospital.

I heard a terrible, panicked screaming outside from Christian and rushed to the door to be met with my son, blood absolutely pouring out of his mouth.

I tried to stay calm and ask him what he had done and I made out that he had fallen on the concrete step on the front walk. I placed him at the kitchen sink to try and contain as much blood in the sink as possible. Once I had a towel and ice on it, I could see that he had bitten clear through his lower lip.

Matt wasn’t here, but my mother-in-law was, so I quickly left her in charge of Lily and rushed Christian to the ER. It was painful to drive stick shift with my injured shoulder, but I hardly noticed.

Matt arrived at the ER about 45 minutes into the wait, which allowed me to run home and breast feed Lily and put her to bed. When I returned, we had to wait just a bit longer and I was there for the 3 stitches, which I had a very difficult time with.

The blessing in all of this is that he’ll be just fine and he didn’t sustain any dental injuries. I praise God for His hand in all of it.
