Making Your Home a Haven: Fun
Wow! This week has flown by! I think it is because I haven’t had much time to sit, thanks to Monica and that is a really good thing!
Today’s focus is all about fun. So I am planning to focus my planning in that area on my son. He is nearly 8 and very creative, so I thought we would make some Thanksgiving decorations together. I have no idea what yet, but we’re going to end up with something and have fun doing it!
I am also trying to keep my mind and heart focused on doing everything in Jesus’ name. It is harder than you think. We’re so programmed to get caught up in the “routine” of the day and be resentful of interruptions. Lil’ is already a bear today, so I am trying to respond to her with that thought in my mind. Would Jesus be exasperated if I were crying yet again? Um, nope. So, I am keeping my eyes focused on Him and trying to turn to Him every single time I feel frustrated and tired.
Other than that, the plan for today is:
- prayer and devotion
- get Christian up and off to school
- finish loading dishwasher and run
- make bed
- finish load of laundry
- take car in to get oil changed
- quick pick up of living room and vacuum
- fold and put away more laundry (have you noticed we have a LOT of laundry?)
- put items in car for tomorrow’s coffee date with friend
Dinner is planned; we’re having stuffed shells, Caesar salad and garlic bread, waffles, bacon and fried potatoes. A girl can change her mind, right?
Pictures and updates to follow. =)
UPDATE: Well, today has been really less than fun. Lily is a very, very grouchy girl and this is the first moment I have had, other than naps where she isn’t hanging on me and crying. I’m pretty sure she’s teething, and I feel so awful for her, but man is it draining. Christian came home with a less than cheerful attitude and when I brought up the idea of doing a craft together, he rolled his eyes and let me know that wasn’t his idea of fun. I also have been attacked with a pretty decent headache and nausea. So much fun.
Soooo, I’m taking a moment to regroup, say a few prayers of thanksgiving amidst my trials, and I’ll see if I can fit some fun in after dinner.
Pictures aren’t looking promising, but you never know. =)
