Happy Saturday!

I really adore the weekends more than ever before. I used to love them when I worked, for obvious reasons, but now I love them because our whole family gets to be together and just enjoy time together. Of course stuff still has to get done, but at least we’re together! I prayed today that my energy would be abundant and that I would have lots of grace and patience for my children and enjoy each moment with them.

We got up and had cinnamon rolls for breakfast. This is one of Christian’s FAVORITES and so I wanted to do that for him. He went to swimming lessons with Matt and returned, to my amazement, a certification of completion! He had just started this level four weeks ago! He is now eligible for the highest level of lessons! I am so proud of all of the progress he is making!

Next we did menu planning. Matt and I do this together. I believe that part of the glue of our relationship is that we enjoy planning meals and cooking together. We love to research new recipes, try new things, listen to music as we cook, etc. It never fails to bring me joy.

Our menu plan for this week is:

  • calzones and caesar salad
  • meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans
  • chili
  • stuffed shells and salad
  • egg, potato and bacon scramble
  • chili dogs

We tried to make it a cheap week so that we can splurge a bit on Thanksgiving.

I did some laundry, vacuumed the upper level of the house, helped Matt take both a/c units out of the windows and put them in the shed, (a/c units are quite heavy!) took a long bath, played with my kids, and cleaned up the kitchen and picked up our bedroom.

We had the calzones for dinner tonight and they were really tasty:

I took a bite before I remembered I wanted to take a picture for the blog.

Christian was quite pleased with dinner. He was a big help with rolling out the dough and grating cheese!

We played 20 questions during dinner and listened to music. What fun!

Now we’re just planning a relaxing evening. Did I mention how much I love the weekend?
